Dalgona Coffee

Do you like coffee? Yes!, then this recipe is for you....! This is one of the best recipes for all coffee lovers. Dalgona Coffee is an Indian coffee drink made by whipping equal portions of coffee, sugar and hot water together until it becomes creamy and thick. Served on top of hot and cold milk, garnished or dusted with cocoa powder or instant coffee.


In India, this beverage is called "Phenti Hui Coffee" (Whipped coffee). During COVID-19 pandemic many governments across the world had to issue country wide or partial lock downs. This beverage has gone viral on social media during COVID-19 Pandemic and was helping governments promoting isolation and social distancing. It's origin can be traced to Indian subcontinent.


Ingredients:

2- Teaspoon Instant Coffee
2- Teaspoon Sugar
1- Table spoon Hot Water


6-7 Ice cubes
Cold Milk

In order to make Dalgona coffee, first we need to mix all ingredients and whip the together (as shown in the picture). Add coffee, sugar and hot water in a bowl and whip them together until the mixture turn in to creamy thick slurry. The colour of the mixture will turn from dark brown to light brown as shown in the picture.  The slurry will be very light and aromatic.

Now, take milk on the rock in a serving glass. I mean, pour ice cubes into a serving glass and add milk as shown in the picture. At this point if you would like to make your coffee more flavourful, you can add any flavour shots you would like to such as Hazelnut, vanilla, mint etc. I had added my favourit hazelnut shot in this milk before topping up with whipped coffee.

 

Final stage: Now, with the help of spatula or spoon transfer whipped coffee on top of this milk and ice. Dust cocoa powder or instant coffee on top and serve cold.
